L'avventura html5 è già arrivata al suo termine? molti membri del
gruppo di lavoro hanno già abbandonato, e addirittura c'è chi chiede
il ban di alcuni.
E' interessante leggere il thread che inizia con l'email di John
Foliot indirizzata a Mr. Bratt, Mr. Berners-Lee, Ms. Brewer, Mr.
Connolly

e originata dalla mancanza di qualsiasi attenzione e rispetto
dell'accessibilità.
Alcuni passi della discussione:
"For your considerations :: There are those who will view what occurred
as "ableism" (aka ablism), the equivalent to sexism or racism with
respect to persons of (all) disabilities."
Clamoroso:
""Notably, in a small number of cases, a participant has engaged in
what amounts to a 'denial-of-service' attack to disrupt the consensus-
driven process. Typically, these attacks are made by repeatedly
posting messages that are off-topic, inflammatory, or otherwise
counter-productive. In contrast, good faith disagreement is a healthy
part of the consensus-driven process"
"As someone who has worked with accessibility for many years, I am
frankly shocked by the fact that in 2007 we - meaning several people
who hold differing opinions than very vocal supports of HTML 5 - are
being vilified for standing on the same barricades we have for the
last ten years"
Tutto questo avviene dopo che in una sessione IRC del gruppo sono
state dette cose come:
# # [07:50] <Lachy> aargh! It really annoys me how some people
conflate making content accessibile with providing fallback to those
without the necessary software
# # [07:52] <Hixie> the most annoying thing for me in public-html is
the way most people jump to a solution rather than determining the
problem
# # [07:54] <Lachy> yeah, that too. I tried getting people to focus on
the problem months ago, and it didn't really work then, and still not
working now
# # [07:55] <Lachy> like in the whole headers="" debate, I tried to
talk about how we could make tables accessible without needing
headers, and basically got accused of ignoring the needs of the
accessibility community
# # [07:55] <Hixie> yeah
# # [07:56] <Hixie> it's ridiculous
Complimenti al signor Hixie... e alla faccia dell'accessibilità.
